Graduation Requirements

To earn a diploma through Insight School of Wisconsin, incoming students must meet the following diploma requirements. Each student must earn 22 credits as listed below during his/her four years in high school.

The following subject-specific courses are required by Insight School of Wisconsin and/or the state of Wisconsin:

Subject Required Courses

English

  • (1.0 credit) must be English I
  • (2.0 credits) must be Everyday Language and Literature OR Writing and Grammar Essentials AND Reading Essentials OR Introduction to Literature & Composition
  • (1.0 credit) must be English II

Math

  • (1.0 credit) must be Algebra I (or higher)

Science

  • (1.0 credit) must be Physical and Earth Science OR Marine Science OR Environmental Science
  • (1.0 credit) must be Biology

Social Studies

  • (1.0 credit) must be World History
  • (1.0 credit) must be U.S. History
  • (0.5 credit) must be U.S. Gov’t and Politics
  • (0.5 credit) must be U.S. and Global Economics OR Social Studies elective

Additional Requirements

One of the 9 required elective credits will be earned in the following iLearning coures.

Insight’s iLearning course embodies several elements of learning in an online, independent study environment and planning around the student’s current goals and future plans. Three of those elements include: (1) the student’s Senior (i.e., Culminating) Project; (2) development, maintenance, and completion of the student portfolio; and (3) completion of the High School & Beyond Plan.

LRN110

All new incoming students are required to complete the LRN110 course. In this course students will learn about who they are as a students, how they learn best, their educational environment and the skills needed to be successful in online education. This course is a vital aspect to the success of each student. LRN110 is a training course where students will walk through all of the different systems, tools, process, procedures, communication, how to’s, best practices, and skills needed in the online educational setting. The LRN110 course will involve high interaction with each student, iMentor, instructors, and parents.

LRN410

Community Service Project/Senior Culminating Project Requirement. ISWI students demonstrate their skills, knowledge, and awareness of their place in the local community by producing a capstone project that includes a product or performance and a research or reflection paper. The project and paper should take approximately 60 hours to Complete. Students are encouraged to begin their project early in their high school career.

Portfolio Requirement

As a prerequisite for graduation from Insight School of Wisconsin, students will maintain an online portfolio of their best work and a brief “Lessons Learned” statement from each course completed at Insight School of Wisconsin.

High School and Beyond Plan

Students will develop an education plan for their high school experience and one year following graduation. This plan will help students start thinking about their futures and focus on courses they need to best prepare them for their career interests, no matter what direction they plan to take.

Residency Requirement

To be eligible for an Insight School of Wisconsin diploma, students must complete at least five credits through Insight School of Wisconsin.

Transfer Credits

Students may transfer in credits from any accredited institution or public high school. Students wishing to transfer in credits based on home schoolwork or portfolios or course work completed at a non-accredited institution may petition the School to have credits accepted. Insight School of Wisconsin reserves the right to refuse transfer credits from non-accredited institutions or for home school experiences.

Although students that enroll in Insight after the start of their freshman year are eligible to transfer credits earned towards their graduation requirements, they must complete at least five credits from Insight School of Wisconsin before being eligible to earn a diploma.
