Sports & Activities
Can I participate in sports at my local school?
WIAA (Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association) rules do not currently allow students to participate in sports at their local high schools. We are a good fit for students who participate in sports or other activities outside of school. Insight School of Wisconsin has many extracurricular offerings and clubs in which students can participate. We encourage you to contact us to find out more about the clubs we offer.
How do students socialize in an online high school?
Insight School of Wisconsin students are more than just classmates. They’re athletes, artists, volunteers, friends, and so much more. So even though Insight School of Wisconsin is an online school, it’s important to note that we offer field trips, dances (even a prom), and a graduation ceremony, among many other in-person activities for students. These opportunities support an authentic high school experience that both teaches and socializes.
Also, our courses provide many opportunities for students to interact with other students through discussion threads and ‘virtual classrooms’ where students are together at the same time communicating through two-way voice over IP, instant messaging, and application sharing.
Students have told us that they build great relationships with other students through the community-building opportunities we provide.
Will school dances, field trips, or events be held?
Yes, there will be many opportunities to participate in these types of events. And each year, we schedule a number of face-to-face events in many different regions throughout the state. Examples of events include, but are not limited to, prom, graduation, summer events, Milwaukee Brewers game, pizza parties, talent shows, and other events driven by student interests.
